About this Demonstration
Music: Ludwig van Beethoven: String Quartet in F Major, Opus 59, No. 1. Recorded April, 2013
Stereo Room Mic
The Stereo Room Mic is an Audio Technica AT822 XY stereo condenser used as a reference to capture the sound in the room.
Mix of Your Heaven CloseUp® Systems
This track is a mix of all four Your Heaven CloseUp® String Instrument Systems. It showcases the impressive sound the Your Heaven CloseUp® String Instrument Systems output, either for live amplification, recording or both. The players are panned and mixed to approximately match the stereo room mic recording. Since so little extraneous sound is picked up by the CloseUp® Systems, a touch of reverb is added to put the instruments in a space.
Instruments - CloseUp® System
Choose any of these tracks to solo one of the instruments in the quartet. This will allow you to hear the impressive isolation the Your Heaven® CloseUp® Systems achieve without sacrificing sound quality. These tracks are simply the instrument's channel from the mix (Mix of Your Heaven CloseUp® Systems - see above) solo'd.
About the Performance
This recording is from a performance of Beethoven's String Quartet in F Major, Opus 59, No. 1 organized by Community Musicworks and friends at 514 Broadway in Providence, RI - an abandoned house known as the "Wedding Cake House" for its unique ornate appearance. The quartet performed live in one room of the house with a place for audience members to listen, but was also amplified in other rooms throughout the house. Audience members could either listen to the quartet acoustically, or explore the other rooms. One room featured each of the four instruments played through a separate hemispherical speaker to create an electronic "clone" of the quartet. Other rooms featured speakers and exciters playing the instruments in various unique places such as viola in the oven and cello from a cupboard and the ventilation ducts. The Your Heaven CloseUp® String Instrument Systems were a perfect fit for this performance since they achieve both excellent isolation and sound quality, and don't encumber acoustic performance.
