Firmware update version 18 is out! It improves the compatibility of the CloseUp® System with live streaming software during this unprecedented time of social distancing.

While we all quarantine due to CoVID-19 and live, in person concerts are all cancelled, some of our amazing users are streaming their music out to others via live streaming services. The CloseUp® System turns out to be a perfect device for this: easy, affordable studio quality sound from your instrument, without worrying about the environmental noise or poor acoustics found in many of our homes! Just connect the USB to your computer or smartphone and play. But previously there was one flaw that hampered simple setups: the USB audio from the CloseUp® System was originally designed with pro audio software in mind, and audio from you instrument came into the computer on only the left channel. Most live streaming software, however, does not feature any sort of audio channel mapping like pro audio software would, so this would make the instrument’s sound come out of the only the left speaker/headphone for listeners unless a more complex setup was used. But now we’ve fixed that!

In firmware version 18, audio from your instrument is now sent to both Left and Right channels of the USB Audio interface’s inputs. This means that the audio will now go to both speakers (or both sides of the headphones) of listeners when you use the CloseUp® System’s USB audio interface feature directly with live streaming services such as Zoom, Twitch, YouTube Live or Facebook Live.

How to do you update? It’s easy!

      1. If you haven’t already, download and install the latest version of the CloseUp® System Software for Mac or Windows.
      2. Make sure you have an internet connection.
      3. Connect your CloseUp® System to your computer with a USB cable and turn it on to USB power.
      4. Launch the CloseUp® System Software. If you have an older version, don’t worry. It will notify you and provide a link to get the latest version (which you will need installed in order to update to the latest firmware release).
      5. Proceed as if you are going to make a new custom profile.
      6. When the CloseUp® is connected and recognized, a dialog will pop up alerting you to the new firmware version.
      7. Click the Update button in the dialog and follow the simple instructions in the software for restarting the CloseUp® in firmware update mode.
      8. The software will automatically download the correct firmware from Your Heaven Audio’s servers and then install it on your CloseUp®. The update process takes no more than 20 seconds (don’t turn off the CloseUp® during the update process).

*The CloseUp® may or may not automatically reboot and reconnect after the firmware update. If it does not, just turn it off and then on again.

Note: the firmware update on Mac may not work on macOS 10.7 “Lion” and 10.8 “Mountain Lion”, even though other functions of the CloseUp System Software 2.0 are supported on these older operating systems. Rest assured that Your CloseUp System will not be harmed if this happens, because the error stops the process before any new firmware is programmed onto it. Firmware update is tested only as far back as macOS 10.11 “El Capitan”. If you do not have access to a Mac with a newer operating system, or a Windows PC with Windows 7+ to perform the update, please contact Your Heaven Audio support for help and we’ll get your firmware updated one way or another.

If you have any trouble updating, or your CloseUp® System doesn’t work correctly after updating, please contact Your Heaven Audio support at support@yourheaven.net

That’s it! Enjoy easier live streaming!
