CloseUp® System App
Welcome to the CloseUp® System download page! Our app for Windows or Mac allows you to create a custom profile for your instrument.
Creating a custom profile for your instrument is an integral part of the CloseUp® System experience. It’s a quick and easy process, and the app walks you through every step. Even for violin, viola, and cello, which have a universal profile available, creating a custom profile will improve the sound of the CloseUp® System.
Choose Mac or Windows below and follow the steps listed to profile your CloseUp® System for your authentic acoustic sound!
Download and Install for Mac
Set up your CloseUp® System and create a custom profile for your instrument quickly and easily by following the steps below:
- Download the CloseUp® System app for Mac — (approx. 125 MB)
- If a Finder window with an installer package appears, continue to the next step.
- If not, find the file YH_CloseUp_System_x.x.x-Mac.dmg in your browser’s download history or your Downloads folder and double-click it.
- Double-click Install YH CloseUp System and follow the instructions to install.
- If you do not have an administrator password for the Mac you’re using, choose install “for me only” to install in the Applications folder of your home folder.

- Follow the on-screen instructions to install the CloseUp® System app.
- Leave the box checked to launch the CloseUp System on the last page of the installer, or find CloseUp System in the Start Menu or on your Desktop to launch the software (please be patient, it can take as long as a minute to launch).
- Follow the on-screen instructions to profile your instrument with the CloseUp® System for authentic acoustic sound!
- If you don’t have a CloseUp System yet, you can use Demo Mode to try out the process without a CloseUp System or instrument.
- You may have to change which audio device the instructional videos are playing through to hear the sound. You can do this just beneath the controls for each video.
Requires Windows 7 or newer, 64-bit. Windows 8 or newer is recommended.
If you are unable to run Windows 7 or later in 64-bit mode on your PC, you may use version 2.0.0 which runs on Windows 7 in 32-bit, but you will not be able to receive bug fixes or update to the most recent CloseUp firmware. For this reason we strongly recommend that you use a newer computer to set up your CloseUp System.
What’s New with the CloseUp® System
November 5, 2023: CloseUp® System App 2.2.3 released for Windows
Some bugfixes and small improvements just for Windows users (most recent release for Mac is still 2.2.1)
- CloseUp System App now launches 37% faster.
- Improved firmware update experience for Windows users updating to the new firmware featuring 24-bit USB audio.
- Fix for broken firmware updates in version 2.2.2
- Fix for bug on Windows where the audio recordings would not be saved if a profile was saved to a location with no spaces in the path.
- Provide .ezq profile file icons for Windows users in Explorer.
This release is recommended for all Windows users.
October 25, 2023: Firmware 24 adds 24-bit resolution to USB audio interface functionality
Firmware version 24, released today, increases the resolution of the CloseUp’s USB audio interface feature to 24-bits, similar to other professional audio interfaces. This offers 256 times the resolution of 16-bit audio. Combined with the significant improvements to the reliability, latency, and clock stability of the USB audio interface in firmware version 21 & 22, this makes the CloseUp® a truly professional quality USB audio interface.
While the digital audio path within the CloseUp was always 24-bit, now you can access that quality directly on your computer or mobile device.
Important note for Windows Users: It is recommended that you update your CloseUp System app to the recently released version 2.2.3 before applying this firmware update. If you are using 2.2.1 or earlier, please exit the app as soon as the firmware update progress bar is complete and power down your CloseUp System, or you may need to reboot your computer before the CloseUp System app will connect to the CloseUp again.
This firmware release is recommended for all users. Check out the firmware version history if you want all the details.
We highly recommend you plug your CloseUp into your computer, fire up the CloseUp System Software, connect, and update the firmware when prompted. You’ll be glad you did!
March 21, 2023: Firmware 22 improves USB audio interface functionality
Note: if you updated to firmware version 21 on March 20-21, please update again – v 21 introduced a bug that could cause profiles to sometimes be silent when connected to USB. This has now been fixed in v 22.
Firmware version 22, released today, greatly improves the reliability, latency, and clock stability of the CloseUp® System’s USB audio interface feature. When the CloseUp is connected to a computer or mobile device via USB (to record and/or play digital audio), occasional audio glitches in playback no longer occur (at least not due to the CloseUp – other factors may still cause clicks and pops), input and output latency are both significantly lower (great for live FX and overdubbing), and the CloseUp’s audio clock synchronizes more closely with the USB host, improving the sound quality of recordings. This clocking fix should resolve any issues with USB recordings going ever so slightly in and out of tune (don’t worry – this only happened during USB recordings – not normal usage with the analog output).
In other words, the issues that were fixed in this release occurred only when the CloseUp System was being used as a USB audio interface for a computer or mobile device. So don’t worry about the integrity of live performances or recordings you may have made using the analog output.
This release also fixes two bugs:
- USB audio playback latency on iOS is no longer extremely high.
- When in USB Monitor Mode, the position of the USB Monitor control [shared with Tone] is now respected when a new profile is loaded. You no longer have to move the knob for your previous Zero-Latency Monitoring level setting to be recognized.
Check out the firmware version history if you want all the details.
So, we highly recommend you plug your CloseUp into your computer, fire up the CloseUp System Software, connect, and update the firmware when prompted. You’ll be glad you did.
January 27, 2023: CloseUp® App 2.2.1 & Firmware 20 released
In this software and firmware tandem release we introduce the ability to use any CloseUp® System processor with any instrument! We’ve been able to unify the algorithms for all instruments compatible with the CloseUp® System into one firmware edition and make them available on every CloseUp® System. All you need is the right mic and extension cable for your instrument (you can try using a mic for a different instrument type, but we can’t offer support for that). Connect your CloseUp® via USB, download and launch the new app, update the firmware, and you’re good to go!
This release also adds some useful new features like:
- Load a profile from your CloseUp® System’s memory. If you lost the .ezq file for your profile, or you are working on a different computer, you can now extract profiles from a CloseUp’s memory and edit Custom EQ and other settings, then save and transfer them to back to any CloseUp®.
- New instrument choice interface ready for our soon-to-expand product line.
- The Enter or Return key is now another convenient way to click the blue buttons that advance through profiling.
- You can now record up to 5 minutes of playing at once in the Custom EQ Alternate Loop and save it.
- New “Profile Library” folder automatically created to help you organize your profiles.
- Easier firmware update process.
and fixes a number of minor bugs.
July 21, 2022: Firmware 19 released
This release fixes an issue where the CloseUp System could sometimes create loud distortion if booted up while set to a profile that has an input gain of 23dB-27dB.
Also, we’re hard at work on some really exciting new features coming up in the next firmware/software update that are going to make dramatic improvments to the CloseUp’s capabilities! So watch this space in the coming months for a big update to your CloseUp that will be completely free.
June 9, 2022: CloseUp® App 2.1.2 release fixes issues with Custom EQ
This release fixes a serious issue introduced in version 2.0.2 that caused Advanced Custom EQ to not be stored in the profile, so it never was transferred to the CloseUp System hardware. We fixed that in this release, but please re-open any profiles you made in version 2.0.2 in which you wanted to use the Advanced Custom EQ and re-create that Custom EQ. It will now actually affect your profile! We apologize that this feature may not have been very helpful during the time period that it silently didn’t work.
This release also brings a number of features that will make using the software easier, and a number of smaller fixes. It also uses more modern audio drivers on Windows, greatly decreasing live audio latency (delay between input and output) when creating and reviewing your profile. While this improvement does not affect the CloseUp hardware, it makes creating profiles nicer. See all the changes in detail in the Version History.
2019-2021
October 18, 2021: Version 2.0.2 released
All features now work as expected in macOS 11 “Big Sur”. There are also improvements to profiling for Classical/Nylon Guitar. We recommend that Classical/Nylon Guitar players update and re-create their profiles for improved sound! In addition, Windows users no longer need to remember to have the CloseUp System connected via USB before starting the software. It will now recognize the CloseUp at any time. And it launches faster now, especially on Windows.
Important Note: This release requires macOS 10.11.6 or later or Windows 8 or later 64-bit (Appears to run fine on Windows 7, but we are still verifying this). Users of older operating systems can use version 2.0.0. Please contact Your Heaven Support with any questions – we’re happy to help!
April 7, 2021: Version 2.0.1 released (for Mac only).
This version fixed a bug that caused 2.0.0 to crash in macOS 11 Big Sur. However, it did not allow firmware updating – we just wanted to get software out quickly for macOS 11 users.
April 13, 2020: Firmware 18
Firmware update 18 improves compatibility of the CloseUp® System with live streaming software during this time of social distancing.
Audio from your instrument is now sent to both Left and Right channels. Make sure you have an active internet connection. Plug in your CloseUp®, turn it on, launch the software and begin as if you are profiling. You will be prompted to update your firmware.
November 20, 2019: Version 2.0.0 released
Version 2.0.0 released with new and improved method of gain control on the CloseUp® System. Includes (and requires) firmware update. Don’t worry – it’s easy! More info here.
April 4, 2019: Version 1.6.0 released
Version 1.6.0 released with a few useful new features for Custom EQ and some helpful bug fixes and improvements.
February 4, 2019: Version 1.5.0 released
- New “Both” footswitch feature: now you can use it for both Gain Boost and Mute at the same time. Tap to Boost, or hold to Mute. Tap to cancel either.
- This release also includes a built-in firmware updater for CloseUp Systems. If your firmware is out of date, you will be notified and have the option to update it to access improvements and new features!
